Brought my 2002 Trans-Am here after taking it to a couple of hole-in-the-wall shops in Santa Rosa (including one that is a 4/5 star yelp reviewed shop) that I was less than impressed with, especially after taking it here and finding out just how much stuff was missed prior. I told them about my concerns with the vehicle: An oil leak and a check engine light that just recently came on. They took the car in, got to the inspection that same day. They found my battery was leaking acid, and corroded basically everything in its path, including essentially the entire battery assembly, and a big bundle of wiring (the cause of the check engine light). They also noticed a water pump leak, along with some pulleys and bearings that seemed like they might need some replacing soon, not too mention all the original cracking hoses in the engine bay. After tearing down the front of the engine bay, they found the pulleys and bearings were basically shot. The bearings wouldn't even spin on their own. After calling to advise me of the updated needed and recommended repairs, they got to it after I authorized all repairs. 2 days later I came back to a freshly washed, and amazingly well running car. Not only did they not hesitate to show me the issues on the car beforehand, they saved all the parts afterward so I could get a good look at the condition everything was in. Throughout the whole process, Don kept me up to date with the status of the inspection and repairs via email and telephone, and made sure to tell me what was a 'suggested' repair and what was a 'this really needs to be done now, or the poop is going to hit the fan soon' repair. They keep a detailed step-by-step log of the original customer request, and all subsequent findings and repairs with the cost. Very detailed and informative. I could not appreciate enough, the thoroughness that Don and the techs showed. And to come back for pickup with a washed car that was actually black, and not grey from my gravel driveway, was icing on the cake. Don even stayed after they closed to let me come pick up the car after I got off work at 5 up in Santa Rosa. It's quite possible these guys are a bit more expensive than some smaller shops (I didn't actually even pay attention to the per hour rate), but you certainly get what you pay for here. If I can liken auto shops to the hotel industry, RPM is the Ritz-Carlton, and everyone else is a Hyatt and on down to the rent-per-hour roachfest on the southside of town. Lastly, every time I showed up to the shop (via Uber) to check out the car, Don offered to have someone drop me off wherever I needed to go (within reason I presume. I doubt a Vegas trip was in the cards). Apparently they sometimes even have loaner cars available. Perhaps when I bring my car back for an engine rebuild and port/polish and dyno, I can take them up on one of those. Quick note: The review by "Mark M." that is rather critical of these guys. Notice his only 3 reviews are negative reviews of random shops. Take it with a grain of salt. Of course.... this is my only review, so there is that. I guess I just appreciated their work to the point where I felt like paying them the bill wasn't enough. Oh, and they have some awesome dogs in the front lobby. Super cute, super friendly.
